I do aim to blog everyday, however I am doing my best at training for the Great North Run where I aim to raise 500 to purchase a virtual doll from a company called life Choice which demonstrates what happens when a baby is shaken and what areas in the head are damaged by the head lighting up. To sponsor me for this my fundraising link is www.justgiving.com/JessiStephenson

Patience

In one day I witnessed quite a few parents speak in a threatening manor to their chidren and 3 different parents threaten to smack their children in front of people. I can't even say the children were behaving particularly bad. One was just crying and as we know, violence isn't the anaswer. Even if children are being monsters, being unbearable, being needy, wanting toys etc. Adults. there is no need to behave in that manor because if you can smack a child in public, I would hate to think...

Whether we are the family of a survivor or an angel. Theres one thing we will fight for that is JUSTICE.

It is said to be much harder to get the evidence to present for a survivor's case as vital evidence is gathered from a post-mortem. So the prosecuting side need to dig further and find way to catch the perpatrator.

I have asked individuals their stories about ustice and read Losing Patience by Jim Peinkofer and there are alway similarities in each unique case.

Shaken Baby Sydrome or Non-accidental head injury

Posted by Charlee's Angels on July 24, 2015 at 4:05 AM Comments comments (0)

Shaken Baby Syndrome was changed to be known as Non-accidental head injury but families of victims refer to it as Shaken Baby Syndrome.

The 'name' was changed because it was said that 'Shaken Baby Syndrome' does not fit correctly to 'the triad' of injuries presented in each case. However, we know that SBS is caused by he violent shaing or repeated violent slamming (shaking or whiplash motion) of a baby/small child and we know this is seen in chlldren between 0-5years old.

How can you say goodbye when you've barely said hello?

How can you trust when you have been betrayed?

How can you hurt someone your supposed to love?

How can you smile when your hearts in a thousand pieces?

So many questions and never the right answers. Only... people always say time heals.

I say time soothes. Only you can make it heal xx

Life as it would have been

We talk about Shaken Baby Syndrome and about victims- survivors and angels Then when we talk about sentencing and justice .. What sentence is long enough?? A life for a life in all cases in my opinion.. Shaken baby syndrome causes 1 in 4 victims to Die and leaves others with servere disabilities. Life as it could have been just doesn't exist anymore for a shaken baby victim.. That isn't the life they were born into... For example: 9 years for manslaughter and the perp will only ser... Anyone can shake a baby and that's a fact. We know the triggers that can cause someone to shake or slam a baby violently. It could be a long term partner, the biologocal parent, a mother, a father, siblings, carers, neighbours, baby sitters anyone.

You can't live you life scared to leave your child with anyone but be SBS aware when you do? Thi...

Strength of a Family

I visited the William's family last week. I was so inspired by two loving and doting parents who have given a life to Joshua who cannot do anything for himself. I witnessed them get him out of bed and into his chair, set his feed up and how they spoke to him. I observed the tenderness and love that was shared between Joshua and his younger siblings.

I cannot thank Ady and Lorraine enough for inviting me to share the special milestone and occasion of Joshua...

Taboo???

Why are people so scetchy about talking about Shaken Baby Syndrome, it should not be a taboo subject because it happens more often than we think, there are over 200 cases in the UK alone every year. But not all cases make the courts. It's a shocking revelation that unless the victim dies, it's harder to prove that SBS occured because an autopsy can not be performed. Defence teams will pull out all the stops and loop holes to set a guilty party free, I can't understand, do these defence lawyers... Read Full Post »
